Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arun Hemachandra has announced that the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia set aside the death sentence imposed on Sri Lankan national Anojan Sivarasa on 13 October 2026.
In a statement, the Deputy Minister said the decision followed sustained diplomatic and legal efforts by the Government of Sri Lanka.
He expressed his sincere appreciation to the Government of Saudi Arabia for its cooperation and commended the Sri Lankan Ambassador, Foreign Ministry officials, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment, and the Sri Lankan and Saudi legal teams for their dedicated efforts in securing the outcome.
