Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has criticised Pakistan’s diplomatic handling of Iran–US mediation talks, following controversy over a social media post by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.Sharif had briefly posted and then edited a message on X referring to a “draft” statement calling for a two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States, which emerged as both sides moved toward a temporary truce.
Speaking to reporters, Tharoor suggested that the wording and structure of the post indicated possible external influence, pointing to similarities with language reportedly used in Washington.He also questioned Pakistan’s diplomatic positioning, remarking on its close ties with the United States amid its mediation role in the ongoing conflict.
